Maytag Epic Washer Door Locked

The cycle did not start and the door was then locked.

The door is locked and will not unlock. We placed dirty laundry in washer loaded soap and softener closed door and attempted to start normal cycle as usual. This is a guide about unlocking the door on a maytag front load washer. The keys are sensitive so epic washers have a button that locks the control panel to stop accidental activation of a new option during a cycle.

Front loaders have a locking mechanism to avoid opening the door during a washing cycle but occasionally this lock will be activated accidentally. Ok so you ll need to open the door manually by unlocking it manually. After plugging the washer in one of the following 3 events will happen. The door lock led light will blink.

Pressing the power button cancels the fan dry option and unlocks the door. Run a drain and spin cycle. The front panel will remove and then you can reach up behind the upper front panel. Press the drain and spin button on the washer s control panel to attempt to unlock the machine.

Wait approximately 2 minutes for control to reset. If the washer has an f8 e1 error or lo fl error the door will be locked and the control will be unresponsive. If the washer will not unlock at the end of a wash cycle unplug the washer or disconnect power. The door should unlock after 60 seconds.

If the door lock is defective the washer door will not latch properly. The door may immediately unlock. The washer will go into a hold and drain routine for 8 minutes. If not call for service.

This may drain any. Nothing else will appear to be happening with the machine during this time. The door should unlock after this is complete. The door lock secures the washer door shut during operation.

Once the washer door is closed the washer can begin operating. If the washer was powered on before being connected to water the door may be locked and it may go into a drain mode. To do this remove the 3 screws along the bottom of the lower front panel. Reconnect power to washer plug in.

Door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Step 1 place your finger on the cycle end signal button on your maytag epic washer control panel. Unlocking the control panel is as simple as the touch of a button.
