You can continue to use the door this way until you have the lock and or handle connection repaired.
Check to see if anything a shovel broom etc fell and is now stuck in the track that is causing it to be lodged.
Both jobs are relatively simple and we would normally be able to do either as part of a standard call out visit.
This can be a quick fix by identifying the object and then removing it.

To open it up all you need to do is thread a coat hanger or hooked piece of wire through the top of the door and open the emergency latch which can also be done by the rope many emergency latches.
Ensure the door isn t in vacation or lock mode when it won t respond to the remote from the outside.
Enter the garage by the side door then you can open the main door using the internal handle.
So focus on getting inside.
It could be anything from a failed garage door opener to a failed track wheels off their track broken spring etc.
You need to get inside the garage to determine what is causing the door to stick.
Having to answer for all that you could be dealing with is a waste of time.
